The African-American Leadership Forum (AALF), a Sodexo Network Group, awards annual scholarships to deserving students pursuing academic excellence and leadership at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). AALF awards $2,500 scholarships to students attending Sodexo HBCU partner institutions, such as SC State University. Awardees must be classified as a currently enrolled undergraduate student at the time the scholarship begins in March 2013. In addition, he/she must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the following majors: business, nutrition/dietetics, management, technology, engineering and hospitality management.
The AALF Scholarships are the following:
Noralyn Mills Memorial Scholarship- the recipient of this scholarship must be a student majoring in nutrition/dietetics and possessing outstanding leadership qualities.
Ollie Lawrence Founders Scholarship- the recipient of this scholarship must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
Chairman’s Leadership Scholarship- the recipient of this scholarship must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, initiative and the ability to lead an organization of his/her peers.
Dick Macedonia Diversity Leadership Scholarship- the recipient of this scholarship must demonstrate a strong diversity and inclusion awareness and exceptional leadership qualities.
The application deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 5 p.m. (Eastern Time); the application includes student background information, a 300 word essay, a resume, a letter of recommendation and a headshot photo. Awardees will be notified by the AALF Scholarship Committee by Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. Applications and support materials will only be accepted on-line at 2013 AALF Scholarship On-Line Application.
