Ordained minister, educator, instructional leader, and pastor, Joi Gabrielle Artis has dedicated more than 17 years to serving students, congregations, and communities
through faith, education, and leadership. As Director of the Office of Religious Services
and Campus Minister/Chaplain at Benedict College, she provides holistic spiritual
guidance, pastoral care, and opportunities for interfaith dialogue while fostering
environments where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to grow academically,
spiritually, and personally. She also serves as Senior Pastor of Haynes Chapel AME
Church, providing spiritual leadership through preaching, teaching, worship planning,
pastoral counseling, and community outreach.
Throughout her career, Artis has combined instructional design, curriculum development, and mentorship with a deep commitment to service. Her experience includes serving as Senior Pastor of St. James AME Church, Instructional Designer, Curriculum Facilitator and Counselor for the 7th Episcopal District, and an educator and AVID Program Lead across three South Carolina school districts. She has organized youth retreats, Bible studies, leadership development programs, and community service initiatives while mentoring students and young adults and equipping others for ethical leadership and holistic well-being. As a proud member of South Carolina State University's Class of 2010, Artis continues to inspire others through her unwavering commitment to faith, education, and community engagement.
