Dr. Ladovia Hope Washington has dedicated her career to improving maternal health,
advancing mental wellness, and strengthening communities through compassionate, trauma-informed
care. As Social Work Director for the South Carolina Office of Rural Health's Family
Solutions program, she provides leadership and supervision for social work services
supporting maternity, adolescent, and infant participants. She facilitatesmultidisciplinary
collaboration, delivers counseling and crisis intervention, mentors social workers,
and leads program development and stakeholder engagement to enhance maternal health
outcomes.
Washington's work extends beyond clinical leadership through education, advocacy, and community outreach. She developed the Bellies and Beyond peer support group to promote maternal mental health and bonding and created the Family Solutions Doula Program, connecting community-based doulas with high-risk perinatal clients while integrating services with community health workers, social workers, and healthcare providers. As founder of the Mauri 4 The Win Foundation, she also leads youth suicide prevention initiatives, facilitates mental health education, mentors young people, and partners with schools, churches, and community organizations to expand access to supportive resources. In addition, she regularly delivers guest lectures and workshops on maternal mortality, nonprofit development, mental wellness, and youth suicide prevention for colleges and community audiences.
Driven by a commitment to lifelong learning and service, Dr. Washington earned a Bachelor of Social Work from South Carolina State University, a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services from the University of Arizona Global Campus. Through leadership, education, and advocacy, she continues to support individuals and families while promoting healthier communities across South Carolina.
