Nicholas C. H. Artis is a dedicated social work professional committed to strengthening
students, families, and communities through advocacy, education, and service. As a
School Social Worker and Family and Community Engagement Liaison with Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Schools, he assesses student and family needs, develops intervention strategies, coordinates
mental health and support services, fosters family engagement, and collaborates with
educators and community partners to promote student success. He also serves as an
Academic Field Supervisor for Master of Social Work interns and co-leads the CMS School
Social Work Field Supervisor Committee, helping prepare the next generation of social
work professionals.
Prior to his work in education, Artis served as an Investigator with the North Carolina Department of Social Services, where he investigated child abuse and neglect cases, connected families with essential resources, and worked to ensure the safety and well-being of children. He also serves as a Community Youth Soccer Coach with Charlotte FC Greater Goals, promoting teamwork, confidence, and positive youth development through sports.
A proud graduate of South Carolina State University, Artis remains actively engaged with his alma mater as Chaplain of the Charlotte Chapter of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association and as a member of the University's Bachelor of Social Work Field Advisory Committee. He is a Certified Sport Social Worker, Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid provider, and Certified Financial Social Worker, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning. In 2023, he was recognized as the Charlotte Chapter of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association Newcomer of the Year for his leadership and service.
