SC State appoints Hayden Erwin as new Title IX coordinator/equal opportunity investigator

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State University has named Hayden Erwin as the university’s Title IX
coordinator/equal opportunity investigator in the Office of Equal Opportunity.
Erwin receives all Title IX complaints and investigates all complaints from the campus community, including employees and students, alleging discriminatory violations on the basis of sexual orientation, gender, national origin, age, disability, and/or religion.
"Hayden brings both a wealth of expertise in compliance and a strong commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our campus community,” SC State General Counsel Nashiba Boyd said. “This addition reflects the university's ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and support for individuals impacted by discrimination and harassment."
Erwin is passionate about promoting fairness, empathy, and inclusivity.
“I am excited for this role to bring passion, experience, and commitment to SC State, where I look forward to fostering an inclusive environment for all students, faculty and staff,” Erwin said.

About Hayden Erwin
Erwin is a native of Honea Path, South Carolina. In 2015, he began his military service in the U.S. Air Force. As a crew chief on the KC-135, an in- air refueling jet, he honed his skills in leadership, teamwork, and work ethic.
After his service, Erwin attended the College of Charleston where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He also had the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in Rome, Italy.
Building on his undergraduate education, Erwin attended Campbell Law School, Raleigh, North Carolina, where he graduated in 2024. During law school, he was an active member of the Sports Law Organization and served as Treasurer for A.C.T.I.O.N., a campus organization dedicated to fostering healthier police-community relationships throughout North Carolina. He also conducted international research in Ghana, further broadening his understanding of global legal systems and social issues.
Erwin gained hands-on experience addressing complex equity concerns through his internship with North Carolina State University’s Office of Equal Opportunity.
Outside of his professional life, Erwin is a devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers and an avid traveler. He cherishes time spent with his wife and his cat. He embraces opportunities to meet others and explore new perspectives.
