The Marching 101: A sound and a show like no other
The Marching 101 Band provides the soundtrack to the HBCU experience at South Carolina
State University. Whether it’s at Bulldog football games, parades or other campus
events, The Marching 101 always brings the vibe.
Our award-winning musical ensemble brings passion and enthusiasm to every performance.
From high-energy drills to our extraordinary musical excellence, we leave nothing
to be desired.
You know The Marching 101 is in town when hear the band’s familiar chant, “Hello,
have you been? I haven’t seen you since I don’t know when. We are the Marching 101
Band. We are the best band, best band, best band in the land!” alongside the unforgettable
sound of the SC State drumline.
And we’ve got the moves to match. Our dynamite drum majors and nimble Champagne Dancers
always get the crowds revved up, and when The Marching 101 starts grooving to the
beat, that Bulldog energy can’t be matched.
1918 marked the beginning of the band program that we all have grown to know and love
today. For over 101 years, our ensemble has been delivering on our promise to transcend,
conquer, and leave nothing to be desired. In 1964, the band debuted its current name,
The SC State Marching 101 Band.
We pride ourselves on never delivering anything less than perfection to our audiences
and representing our profound educational institution.
The Marching 101 Band maintains a website at scsumarching101.org/ that includes videos, updates about events and more. You can also see The Marching
101 in action on the band’s YouTube channel.
Summer Band Camp
The Marching 101's School Summer Band Camp offers a one-week intensive camp where campers condition, practice, and perform like the Marching 101, putting on an exhibition performance at the end of the week.
