Sonja Bennett-Bellamy

Sonja Bennett-Bellamy heads the Division of Marketing, Communications and Strategic Alliances,  which encompasses the Offices of University Relations and Marketing, and SC State's radio stations.  She provides strategic oversight to experts in communications, public information and marketing who work daily to achieve the university's strategic focus to elevate the SC State University brand and its signature programs.

Bennett-Bellamy has served at SC State University for nearly 10 years.  Prior to SC State, Bennett-Bellamy served in similar roles at Claflin University, St. Augustine's University, Shaw University and Strayer University.  She is also a veteran broadcast journalist, having served nearly 20 years in local television in SC, NC, GA, and AL. Prior to her current role, she was SC State's s vice president for institutional advancement and external affairs.

She is a wife, mother, and grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, singing gospel music, traveling, and listening to jazz music.
