Angel E.R. Pointer
Angel E.R. Pointer is the director of customer service for South Carolina State University. Pointer is leading the development and launch of a centralized customer service department, which is expected to transform how SC State engages with students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, vendors and the broader community.
The Director of Customer Service at South Carolina State University leads the university-wide effort to improve and maintain high-quality service experiences for students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing the intake and resolution of inquiries, concerns, and feedback across departments, ensuring that all interactions are handled with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
The Director works collaboratively with campus offices to:
- Identify and address recurring service gaps or communication issues
- Streamline customer-facing processes
- Support training and service standards across departments
- Monitor trends in inquiries and develop proactive solutions
- Serve as a central resource and advocate for customer satisfaction

campus community.
Background
Prior to her appointment, Pointer served as SC State’s director of alumni affairs and engagement, where she revitalized alumni interaction through new events, expanded digital outreach and a relaunch of the online alumni portal that boosted engagement and giving.
Pointer is a 2012 SC State honors graduate with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics
and a minor in computer science. She is a life member of the SC State University National
Alumni Association and a member of the Greater Charlotte Alumni Chapter, where she
serves on the Technology Committee as chair, Gala Planning Committee, Executive Board,
and the Membership Committee.
On the National level, Pointer serves as a member of the Technology, Convention Planning,
and SOT Committees, as well as the chair of the Virtual Experience/Social Media Committees.
Pointer started working for the university as an undergraduate in 2005 as a math/computer science tutor until 2010. She was an office assistant to the director of Title III from 2010-2012.
