Jhessye Moore-Thomas
Jhessye Moore-Thomas works as an agriculture agent in the Santee Wateree Region and established SC State's 1890-first SC Minority Women in Ag Network. She provided outreach events in all realms of agriculture adhering with the Sustainable Agriculture, Natural Resource and Environment (SANRE) Program headed by Dr. Joshua Idassi. She helps with recruiting for the Climate Smart Grant between SC State and Clemson. She develops and delivers agriculture programs at schools and organizations in the Santee Wateree Region. Farm visits are a big part of her duties, too, and as a extension agent, she wears many hats to help develop agricultural programs in her region and statewide.
Background
She joined SC State in 2022. She has worked as an agriculture educator at several nonprofits and farms in Texas, Florida, California, Hawaii, and Massachusetts She has about 14 years of experience as an educator in and out of the classroom and even worked in China for a year. She has a 4.0 GPA during her graduate school career for every semester.

Hobbies & Interests
Interests include regenerative agriculture, community gardens, climate-smart agriculture, drones for agriculture, and filmmaking. She is a traveler, cyclist, endurance athlete, filmmaker, soil science enthusiast, writer and joke-teller.
