Jona' L. Hodges

As an English Instructor at South Carolina State University, Hodges is responsible for teaching and monitoring my students' writing skills, reading comprehension, and public speaking abilities.  Her role also includes identifying  any learning challenges, evaluating students' progress, and assessing their knowledge through a series of tests and writing assignments provided to allow practice and to enhance their writing skills.

Background

Hodges is an alumna of South Carolina State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a Master of Arts in Teaching English degree. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and Golden Key International Honour Society. 

Hodges joined the English and Communications Department of South Carolina State University in August, 2021.

More About Jona' Hodges

Hodges is a proud mother of two sons.  She resides in Irmo, South Carolina, where she has served the residents of the midlands for many years as a former award-winning realtor and insurance agency owner.  In addition to her role as an English Instructor, Hodges is also employed as office manager of The Law Firm of Carl B. Grant, P.A.. Hodges has also served as a Guardian ad Litem for Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and South Carolina Department of Aging-Vulnerable Adult Program. 

She is a member of Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, South Carolina, where she serves as a member of the Senior Ushers Ministry and Vacation Bible School Teacher. 

Hodges enjoys traveling, reading, spending time at the beach, bicycling, and walking her Goldendoodle
