Tanesha L. Jones-Boyd

Dr. Tanesha L. Jones-Boyd is an assistant professor of counselor education at South Carolina State University in the Department of Human Services.

Education

She received a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, a M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University, and a B.S. in Sociology from Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Background

Dr. Jones-Boyd has worked with students in higher education in various capacities for more than 10 years in addition to working for several years as a human service professional providing counseling services to individuals and families throughout the upstate of South Carolina. Her past positions include Rehabilitation Counselor with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, Program Manager and Core Faculty at Webster University Greenville Metropolitan Campus in the Graduate Counseling Department, and Faculty and Academic Advisor to students in the Public Service, Arts, and Sciences Division at Greenville Technical College. Dr. Jones-Boyd’s most recent position prior to joining South Carolina State University was the Director of Testing Services at Greenville Technical College where she oversaw all placement, academic, and professional testing services for the college.

Dr. Jones-Boyd is a National Certified Counselor and a member of the American Counseling Association and the American School Counseling Association. Her areas of interest include fostering success for women in higher education, leadership development for counselors and training, multicultural counseling, and counseling in safe spaces.
