Alvin Lumpkin, Jr. is a visionary educational leader, counselor, and community advocate
dedicated to empowering students and transforming schools. With more than a decade of experience across South Carolina, he has held impactful
roles including Assistant Principal, Restorative Specialist, Regional Career Specialist,
MTSS/Testing Coordinator, and School Counselor. In each position, he has driven measurable
gains in student achievement, reduced discipline challenges through restorative practices,
and expanded college and career readiness opportunities.
Alvin’s leadership is grounded in data-driven decision-making, innovation, and equity.
He is highly skilled in implementing behavioral interventions, mentoring staff, and
cultivating school cultures where both students and educators thrive.
Beyond his school leadership, Alvin is deeply committed to service. He is a Life Member of the South Carolina State University Alumni Association, serving as Vice President of the Dorchester County Alumni Chapter. He is also a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and a proud member of Prince Hall Masons, where he continues his lifelong mission of mentorship, brotherhood, and community uplift. His service extends to organizations such as the NAACP, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, the Red Cross, and Big Brothers, where he has invested in youth, families, and underserved communities.
Alvin draws strength from his faith, family, and friendships. He is especially inspired by the memory of his late mother, whose footsteps in education shaped his career path and passion for guiding others. Today, he honors her legacy by championing inclusive, achievement-focused environments where every student and staff member has the opportunity to succeed.
