The Master of Science Degree in Transportation (MST) is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students to understand the historical, current, and future trends and developments in transportation systems from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Additionally, students will be prepared to become future transportation professionals who will design, analyze, research, implement and evaluate new and emerging concepts. The program also addresses transportation as a major system to improve the quality of life for citizens locally, statewide, nationally, and globally.
Admission Criteria
To be considered for full and unconditional admission, entering students must have an earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Other admissions criteria include: 1) a score of 1360 points calculated as follows: Undergraduate GPA multiplied by a factor of 200 plus a combined score of verbal and quantitative GRE score must equal to 1360 points. (For example a student who has an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 and a combined GRE score of 800 points (verbal and quantitative) = 2.8 x 200 = 560 + 800 = 1360 points); Note: New GRE scores with 130-170 score scale will be converted to 200-800 score scale using concordance tables, (e.g. a 130 score for verbal reasoning based on 130-170 score scale will correspond to 230 on 200-800 score scale); 2) Two letters of recommendation from persons familiar with their academic capabilities.
The Graduate Studies Admissions Committee in the College of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technology works in concert with the School of Graduate Studies in reviewing all applications for the MST program.
Applicants who do not have undergraduate preparation in one or more of the areas outlined below may upon consultation with their assigned academic advisor adjust their program of study (POS) to include some prerequisite designed to help the student successfully complete their studies.
Applicants with 1300 points but less than 1360 points may be offered provisional admission. Full admission is contingent upon completion of nine (9) credits Accounting; Economics; Management, Marketing; Psychology; Sociology, Engineering; Engineering Technology; Computer Science; Biological Science; Physical Science; Political Science and Criminal Justice.
