Meet Trustee Varat
Dr. Daniel R. Varat is a member of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees from Piedmont,
South Carolina. Trustee Varat is CEO of Safe Harbor. He has served as chairman of
the Student Affairs and Athletics Committee.
Why do you serve SC State? "SC State plays a critical and unique role in the education of thousands of South Carolinians. I very much appreciate the opportunity to serve that mission for our students and families."

Background
Trustee Varat is a Greenville native with decades of executive experience in the small business, state government, and nonprofit sectors. He has taught at the college level. He is married to Gina Silver Varat, who also is a Greenville native and 30-year professional educator. They have one daughter, Mary Earl.
