Starlee Alexander is a member of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees.

Why do you serve SC State? "Education has always been important to my family who sent five siblings to college. Serving on SCSU Board is a way for me to give back to our children and the community. I believe in the HBCU's and the environment to give our families a sense of heritage and legacy. My goal is to provide leadership and support to the university."

Background
Trustee Alexander is a native of Trilby, Florida.
She has been the Owner/Agent of a State Farm Insurance Agency since 1985, becoming the first African American woman in this part of the state to do so. She recently celebrated 37 years with State Farm Insurance. Her agency is located at 2027 South Irby Street, Florence, SC. She has grown her agency to one of great respect in the community. Most recently, Starlee, is a Partners of MiLadies 182 Boutique in downtown Florence.
Trustee Alexander is married to State Rep. Terry Alexander, a member of the South Carolina House of Representative for District 59.
She serves on the Downtown Development Board, she was instrumental in the formation of the Small and Minority Division of the Florence Chamber Board of Directors, the first African American female chairwomen of the Greater Florence Chamber Board of Directors in 2002 and served in many capacities on the Chamber Board as well.
Alexander was a part of the inaugural class of The Entrepreneur Forum at Florence Darlington Technical College and served on the McLeod Health Pee Dee Regional Health Services District and Foundation Board, receiving the 2007 McLeod Fellows Award. She served as president of Florence Bethune Section and state convener of National Council of Negro Women and was the recipient of the Illuminated Scroll Award in 2005, received the 2007 Excellent in Leadership Award, Crescent Temple #148 & Crescent Court #143, served as the gala chairperson of United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and is a member of Florence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
