Teacher education partnership signing set for Thursday at Fine Arts Building on campus
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Department of Teacher Education at South Carolina State University will join Today’s
Students, Tomorrow’s Teachers for a teacher education partnership signing ceremony
celebrating a formal collaboration focused on strengthening the future educator pipeline.
The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Fine Arts Auditorium
on the SC State campus.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to recruiting, mentoring and supporting
students who aspire to become educators — from high school through college — while
building sustainable pathways into the teaching profession.
U.S. Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-South Carolina) is expected to attend.
University and community leaders scheduled to participate include Alexander Conyers,
president of South Carolina State University; Frederick Evans, provost and vice president
for academic affairs; M. Evelyn Fields, dean of the College of Education, Humanities
and Social Sciences; William Whitaker, dean of the Dr. Emily England Clyburn Honors
College; and Bettye Perkins, founder and CEO of Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Teachers.
The event marks an important milestone as SC State and Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s
Teachers continue expanding partnerships with local and district leaders who share
a vision for advancing and sustaining the teaching profession.
