Boeing manager, Black Engineer of the Year honoree to speak Wednesday at SC State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Stacey Hill, a manager at The Boeing Company and a 2021 Black Engineer of the Year “Modern Day Technology Leader” Award winner, will speak Wednesday, Oct. 7, at South Carolina State University.

The program will begin at noon in the fourth-floor auditorium of Belcher Hall as part of the College of Business and Information Systems' Executive Speaker Series.

Hill serves as manager of Boeing’s GTA Enterprise Talent Engagement and Events team.

During her 10 years with Boeing, she has led teams in facilities asset management, supply chain, supplier diversity, F-15 manufacturing and talent acquisition and engagement.

Her career spans more than 20 years and includes leading construction engineering teams for the U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Microsoft Corp. Her career has taken her to Atlanta, Seattle, Charleston and Phoenix.

Leadership and service

Hill earned bachelor’s degrees in financial planning/business administration in 2000 and interior architecture/art history in 2004 from the University of Alabama. She earned an MBA with a concentration in human resources management from City University of Seattle in 2016.

At Boeing, Hill has held numerous volunteer leadership roles, including diversity and inclusion recruitment lead for the Puget Sound Facilities & Asset Management Intern Team, co-lead of the former SSG Supplier Management Intern Team, Buddy Program coordinator for the NSBE/BEYA team and deputy focal for the Boeing NSBE Team.

She currently serves as company focal for the Boeing NSBE Team and as a member of the University of Alabama campus focal team. She also served on the Boeing Racial Equity Task Force.

Hill was a 2021 Black Engineer of the Year “Modern Day Technology Leader” Award winner and was nominated for a 2023 Women of Color in STEM “All Star Technology Leader” award. She also was a 2023 “Distinguished Alumni” Malone Award finalist at the University of Alabama.

Mentoring, developing, sponsoring and opening doors for the next generation of leaders are central to Hill’s work. As president of the University of Alabama Black Alumni Association, she developed the Ready for the Real-World career-readiness and college-preparedness program.

She also has served as an alumni advocate for the University of Alabama chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and as an alumni supporter of the university’s First Year Experience programs BRIDGE, the UA Men of Color Initiative; Lucy’s Legacy, the UA Women of Color Initiative; and Crimson Scholars, the UA First Generation Initiative.

Community involvement

Hill is a Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. with more than 25 years of membership and serves as co-director of the sorority’s South Eastern Region P.O.I.S.E. (Power of Internships in the South Eastern) Initiative. She also is an active alumni mentor to her undergraduate chapter, the Theta Sigma Chapter.

She has been a member of the Junior League for more than 20 years and serves as a regional vice president on the University of Alabama National Alumni Association Executive Council. She is immediate past president of the University of Alabama Black Alumni Association, serves on the National Society of Black Engineers Board of Corporate Affiliates and is a former board member of the Black Alumni Collective.

Hill prioritizes time with family and friends and enjoys traveling, cooking and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Pittsburgh Steelers.
