Meet Madison Jackson, a new Clyburn Scholar in the Dr. Emily England Clyburn Honors College

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State University proudly announces Madison Jackson as a new Clyburn Scholar within the esteemed Dr. Emily England Clyburn Honors College.
 
A driven biology major from Orangeburg, South Carolina, Jackson exemplifies the commitment to academic rigor, leadership, and community service that the Clyburn Honors College fosters.
 
“Madison’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and his passion for community service deeply reflect the values we hold dear at the Clyburn Honors College,” said Dr. William H. Whitaker Jr., Honors College dean. “His dedication to supporting others through tutoring and his involvement in the broader community set him apart as a true leader. We are thrilled to watch him continue to make a positive impact within the Honors College and the SC State community.”
 
In his role as a tutor at Moss Hall, Jackson provides valuable academic support to fellow SC State students, reinforcing his dedication to helping others succeed. He also brings experience as a private tutor for the Urban Community Education Network and Training Center, where he guided local children in mathematics, combining academic support with mentorship. This commitment to community education has helped Jackson form strong connections within the Orangeburg area.
 
His customer service background, cultivated over seven years with Beauty by Design, has equipped him with skills in client relations, organization, and retail management. He is a graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and completed dual enrollment studies at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, enhancing his academic foundation as he pursues his bachelor’s degree in biology at SC State.
 
As a Clyburn Scholar, Jackson joins a distinguished cohort of students in the Dr. Emily England Clyburn Honors College, known for their dedication to academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership. Jackson is eager to make impactful contributions to both the Honors College and the larger SC State community.
