ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Over 100 students registered early for Summer and Fall Semester courses at South Carolina State University’s Fall 2024 Registration Drive.

The drive was held on Thursday at the Student Plaza Basketball Court. It was a collaborative student-led event between the university’s Student Success Center (SSC) and the Office of Student Life & Leadership.

Students were welcomed with music and friendly staff from SSC who were willing to help them with their schedules and give them advice. They were able to get their pin numbers, register for classes and meet with advisors.

“This is really helpful to students, and I hope they take advantage of early registration. It’s important to get those classes that you need ahead of time to make it easier for you to get your education and graduate on time,” said SC State student volunteer Nysier Judkins.

SCC is adamant about getting students more involved with helping their peers with tutoring and registration events.

Student volunteers from various organizations led the initiative by registering early at the registration drive. They also helped their peers register and motivated other students at the Plaza register early while they were in the area.

Students who completed their registration were rewarded with free refreshments.

“The event was highly successful, with several students expressing their eagerness to register for the upcoming Fall Semester. There were even a few students who were initially unsure about enrolling, but changed their minds after the event,” said SCC Director Tyron Clinton. “Overall, the event was a remarkable achievement with plenty of positive feedback from the attendees.”
