ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Brandon Pringle had specific goals when he went back to school: flexibility, intellectual challenge and career advancement. He found all three in South Carolina State University’s Online MBA Program — and now, he’s being honored for making the most of the opportunity.

The Center for Online and Distance Education (CODE) at SC State has named Pringle its Online Student of the Semester, recognizing his outstanding academic performance and leadership as he pursues his Master of Business Administration through the university’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies and College of Business and Information Systems.

“My experience as a South Carolina State University (SCSU) online MBA student has been inspirational and a life changer,” Pringle said. “I decided on SCSU’s online MBA program because it provided the ideal balance of academic discipline and flexibility.”

As a working professional with long-term ambitions in logistics and leadership, Pringle needed a program that would fit into his life — and challenge him intellectually.

“I needed a school that could work with my schedule and push me intellectually,” he said. “SCSU has done just that.”

One of the features that stood out most to Pringle was the strong connection between faculty and students, even in a virtual environment.

“Even in a virtual environment, I have always felt involved and supported,” he said. “Professors are dedicated to helping students achieve goals in their studies and careers.”

Pringle said he’s been able to apply coursework to real-world problems, particularly in organizational leadership, operations and strategic management. Beyond the classroom, the program has helped him grow in ways that extend into his daily life.

“I have learned how to better manage my time, juggle a lot of obligations, and stay disciplined — all abilities that are essential for any leader,” he said. “It has also expanded my network, allowing me to work with peers from other backgrounds and businesses.”

CODE Executive Director Bettina Mozie said the recognition honors students like Pringle who exemplify excellence in online learning.

“This recognition is awarded to a student who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leadership, and dedication to their studies, all while balancing the unique challenges of online learning,” Mozie said. “Their commitment to excellence and their ability to thrive in a virtual environment exemplify the qualities we value in our students.”

CODE is part of SC State’s Division of Academic Affairs and supports online and distance education and faculty development at the university. The center offers four degree programs and two certificate programs that can be completed entirely online, as well as a host of online courses for other academic disciplines at SC State.

“I have been pleased by the SCSU online MBA program overall,” Pringle said. “More than just a degree, it is a journey that is making me a more competent, self-assured, and progressive professional.”
