ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Office of General Counsel at South Carolina State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Courtney Golden Proctor as paralegal.

In her new role, Proctor will support the university’s legal operations by assisting with legal research, document preparation, records management, and coordination of matters involving compliance, contracts, litigation, and policy review. She will work closely with university leadership and departments to help ensure efficient and effective legal services in support of the institution’s mission.

“I am truly honored to rejoin the Bulldog family,” Proctor said. “Having grown up on this campus and later attending here, South Carolina State University has always been home to me. It is a full-circle moment, following in my mother Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson's footsteps, to return and serve the very community that shaped who I am today.”

Proctor brings valuable administrative and organizational experience from her prior service as an administrative specialist with Orangeburg HSHP and her time with the Orangeburg County Probate Court. In those roles, she developed a strong foundation in office management, stakeholder communication, and regulatory documentation skills that will further strengthen the operations of the General Counsel’s Office.

“We are excited to welcome Courtney to the Office of General Counsel,” said Nashiba Boyd, general counsel for SC State. “Her attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to service will enhance our ability to provide timely and thorough legal support to the University community.”

A proud member of the Orangeburg community, Proctor is committed to supporting the continued growth and success of SC State. Her addition reflects the University’s ongoing dedication to operational excellence and responsive service.
