ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State University’s Visual Arts Program presents the Spring 2026 Senior Thesis Exhibition featuring graduating seniors Malachi Jones and Nicholas Ezra Walters.

The exhibition will be on view in SC State's Fine Arts Building Gallery today (April 28) through May 8 during regular business hours.

Film and photography highlight senior work

The exhibition includes a short film by Jones and a series of photographic images by Walters.

Jones’ film, "The Hodge Hall Project," uses found footage storytelling and suspense to create a horror atmosphere.

Walters’ photographic series, Sonder, explores the camera’s ability to capture the human experience, focusing on residents of Orangeburg and the stories they tell.

Together, the works represent the culmination of the students’ senior thesis projects and reflect the range of creative work produced in the Visual Arts Program.

Jones and Walters are May 2026 graduation candidates and are expected to receive Bachelor of Arts degrees in studio art.

The exhibition is open to the campus community and the public during normal gallery hours.
