SC State students to join Grammy-nominated instructor in jazz concert on Friday in Charlotte
ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Willie Bradley knows talent when he sees it.
The Grammy-nominated South Carolina State University music industry instructor has selected four students to join him for two performances Friday, Jan. 10, at Middle C Jazz Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Though there are many talented students on our campus and in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, I observed four students who stood out,” said Bradley, who also is an SC State alumnus. “These students are very passionate about their craft. I Invited them to a rehearsal one evening to see if there was any musical chemistry between them.”
Sure enough, the students clicked, and the jazz ensemble was born. With Bradley on trumpet, the performers are Skyler Green on keyboards, Olivia Ratliff on bass guitar, and Qaveon Zedaki Calloway on drums and Latwanna Flake on vocals. Bradley has been performing with portions of the group at recent special SC State events.
Performances of “An Evening with Billboard Charting Smooth Jazz Artist Willie Bradley” at Middle C, 300 S Brevard St., Charlotte, North Carolina, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase on the venue’s website at https://middlecjazz.com or by clicking here.
The SC State Department of Visual and Performing Arts is a unit of the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences.
