SCSU Alumni Band Foundation announces 2026 Scholarship and Concert Gala honorees
The event raises scholarship funds and support for current and future student musicians in the SC State Marching 101 Band program.
The 2026 honorees are:
- H. Wade Johnson Performance Award — Willie Bradley
- ABA Appreciation Award — Darren Austin
- ABA Service Award — Gerald Hare
- ABA Service Award — Darion Breland
- Ronald J. Sarjeant Leadership Award — Willie C. Outlaw III
- Eddie B. Ellis Emerging Alumni Award — LaTrondrick Hunter
- Dr. Robert Lawrence Jr. Music Educator Award — Herman Marsh
- Legacy Award — Ronald J. Sarjeant & Family
As part of the weekend celebration, the Ronald J. Sarjeant Tribute Concert will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at noon in the Barbara A. Vaughn Recital Hall. The special concert will honor Mr. Ronald J. Sarjeant, this year's Legacy Award recipient, and celebrate his lasting contributions, leadership and impact on the SC State Marching 101 Band program and music community
The evening gala will feature live entertainment, fellowship and a celebration of the individuals whose dedication and contributions continue to impact the Marching 101 legacy and the broader SC State community.
Hosted by Belinda “BP” Parker with sounds by DJ Hothands, the gala serves as both a celebration and a fundraising effort to provide scholarships, resources and opportunities for student musicians pursuing academic and musical excellence.
“The Scholarship and Concert Gala is more than an event; it is a powerful reflection of our commitment to preserving the legacy of the Marching 101 while investing in the next generation of Bulldog musicians,” said representatives of the SCSU Alumni Band Foundation.
