Approximately 380 degrees will be awarded Friday at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State University National Alumni Association President Yolanda Williams and Student Government Association President Zaria Tucker will be the keynote speakers at South Carolina State University’s Spring Commencement on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

SC State expects to award approximately 380 undergraduate and graduate degrees to the Class of 2026. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with SC State President Alexander Conyers presiding.

“Commencement is a moment to recognize our students’ hard work and readiness for what comes next,” Conyers said. “Both Ms. Williams and Ms. Tucker bring perspectives that will add meaning to that moment. They each represent leadership, service and a commitment to advancing this institution and its students.

“Ms. Williams is a loyal daughter of SC State whose dedication to her alma mater is evident in her continued service to our students and this institution,” Conyers said. “She is a strong and consistent advocate for student success, and her leadership reflects a deep commitment to the mission of SC State.

“Zaria Tucker has distinguished herself as a thoughtful and effective student leader who understands both the responsibility and the impact of her role,” Conyers said. “During her time as Student Government Association president, she approached leadership with clarity, purpose and a strong sense of accountability to her peers.”

In the event of inclement weather, SC State will move the ceremony to Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, and each graduating senior will be issued five tickets for guests.

Campus entrances will open at 6:30 a.m. Commencement seating will begin at 8:30 a.m.
