ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State University is implementing an immediate requirement that all students, faculty, staff and contractors wear or carry their university-issued identification badges at all times while on campus.

The requirement is part of the university's ongoing efforts to strengthen campus security, prevent unauthorized access to university facilities and protect students, faculty and staff.

Requiring university identification will help campus personnel verify who is authorized to be on campus and access university services, including dining facilities and residence halls.

ID checks may occur anywhere on campus

As part of the enhanced security measures, university personnel may conduct identification checks at any time, day or night, in residence halls, academic buildings, dining facilities and other locations throughout campus.

The checks are intended to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering university facilities, reduce security risks and ensure that campus services are used only by those authorized to access them.

All students, faculty, staff and contractors must wear or carry their SC State identification badges while on campus and present them upon request.

The administration appreciates the cooperation of the campus community in maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone.
